Preppy Perfection with DP Curve

When dresses become tunics …

If you haven’t heard the Dorothy Perkins has launched a Curve collection, then you’ve been living under a rock!
The plus size blog-osphere seems to have gone a little crazy over them since launching a month or two ago – and I can really see why.   A series of pretty skater dresses and chic workwear solutions, the range is very much welcomed for a girl who spends most of her life in an office.
There are many items in the range that I could happily absorb into my wardrobe, but by far my favourite was the Monochrome Dog Tooth Tunic Dress.

This dress is something a bit different to my usual style – there is something preppy about it, like a slightly naughty schoolgirl playing dress up in the swinging sixties.  Why wouldn’t I love that?
The white collar and sleeves are demure, the dogtooth print bold and adventurous.
The tunic is a bit of a micro mini on me – not surprising when I’m 5ft10.  Luckily, I love a micro mini and showing my pins, if you haven’t already noticed, is a favourite hobby of mine.
I ordered the size 18, which is the smallest size in the DP Curve range.  Unfortunately, the tunic is quite generous and fits quite large on me.  It is too big at the shoulders, waist, and hips.   Because of this, I had to return the dress which is quite upsetting as I absolutely love it!
The absolute mega babe that is Kathryn of Miss Kathryn’s MissTakes also fell rather madly in love with this dress so we chose to do a ‘Same Dress, Different Size, Different Style’ type post.   Kathryn is a 24 and looks absolutely delightful in the dress.
Doesn’t she look delightful?   I love how we’ve both taken a dress and worn it in such different ways!
The tunic is actually quite boxy in shape (see picture above and those below) but boxy isn’t very me so I cinched in the waist with a wide leather belt from ASOS Curve. I’m wearing the tunic with opaque tights and my new pointed ankle boots that I think I would wear everywhere if I could.
The dress retails at £30 which I don’t think is a bad price for something that is both versatile and little different.  However, DP currently have 25% off so get it quick!

  1. Arrk can't believe you had to return this as it looks beautiful on you! it picks out the red in your hair beautifully.
I like the overall cut of this dress especially its length- too many plus size lines are longer than the straight sizes.
