I love an excuse to get dolled up to the nines!
Every year I have at least one or two black tie events to attend that really allow me to go all out in the fashion stakes so when Bon Prix offered me a dress from their party range, I just had to chose the most extravagant dress on offer.
Full length, studded and feathered – this dress is certainly a statement!
I was a little hesitant when ordering and this was actually my second choice as, priced at only £49.99 (a bargain of black tie worthy dresses), I was worried that this wouldn’t have the quality and that the feather and stud details would look cheap in the flesh.
I needn’t have worried!
The dress is lined to the knee and beautifully tailored to hug every curve before sweeping out in a subtle fishtail.
The waist is nicely tailored in and scarcely needed pinning – I do pin most body hugging dresses as have to size up for my hips and boobs which means that I then have to adjust the waist to fit.
The dress is a size 18/20 and again I was skeptical – I just don’t get dual sizing! But this fits me very very well, suggesting that the dress comes up a little small as I’m far more a 16-18 in any other dress I own.
Even the length is good on my 5ft10 frame – and I’m wearing 5 inch heels in these pictures!
The back has a deep v neckline which I really love – I will probably pin my hair up when I next wear this dress to show it off a bit more.
I’m also thinking of getting a tattoo on the back of neck soon so this will show it off to perfection – I seem to get inked after a hard spell with my health and I’m currently in recovery so feel this would be a fitting time to get another little reminder of my own strength as well as what has been lost but never forgotten!
Now the dress does need shapewear – I’m not wearing any here but have invested in a Maidenform underbust shaping slip that I think will really smooth my silhouette and let me celebrate those Jessica Rabbit curves in this dress. I will be wearing this to my office christmas party and cannot wait for all to see it!
