Parisian chic with Elvi

Review of Elvi textured reptile skirt

I’m in love with textures – have been for a while.  It seems that, above all other items, I’m currently drawn to faux-leathers and velvets so when this beautiful reptile textured skirt came on sale at Elvi, I just had to scoop it up.

I bought the skirt in a size 16 and it fits me very well.  I tend to size down for high waisted full skirts as my waist is by far my smallest point and the wide cut nature of a full skirt means that the hips tend to be relatively free.

The skirt sits just below my knee – for my not-regular readers, I’m 5ft 10 so this would sit a fraction longer on people with a shorter frame.  Just an inch longer and the skirt would be an elegant midi length on me and I feel that really would have elevated the skirt to something truly spectacular.  As it is, the skirt is very chic and I’m sure I’ll get a lot of wear out of it throughout the year.

The waist band is wide with a slight scalloped edge that reflects the texture of the skirt.  It is closed at the back by an exposed gold zip.  There is quite a bit of stretch in the waist band which means it sits nice and flat against the tummy without any gaping or folding.

The textured faux-leather of this skirt is very soft and supple so the pleated detail is smooth and full of movement when you walk.  I had expected it to be a thicker material but I like that the fluidity of the fabric means that full skirt hangs lighter.  This means the skirt is going to be perfect for wearing in those mythical warmer months!

I paired the skirt with a striped bardot top which made me feel ever so Parisian.  I finished the look with my favourite blue pointed courts from Dune – I love teaming a fifties full skirt with pointed courts, it makes me feel very grown up and sophisticated as I swish about the place.

J’adore! I’m always reluctant to try leather look stuff as I expect it to be stiff or something. I love the fluidity of the skirt and that it still has a structure to it (if that makes sense!). You look tres chic as always! ? ?
