It may not feel like it, with the dull grey skies and incessant drizzle, but today is the first day of Summer proper.
Now, forever optimistic, I thought I’d share with you my 6 key wardrobe items for surviving summer (praying we had sunshine & bright skies galore).
The striped t’shirt – I love a striped top (and have far too many). This ASOS t’shirt is perfect for warm summer days when you want to look cool and not get burnt shoulders.
Dress shorts – For those days at work when you don’t want your thighs sticking together but you still want to look ceaselessly elegant, these Jameela Jamil for Simply Shorts are perfect for nights out and days in the office!
Bikini – I love a simple black bikini and this Imagine by Elomi bikini will look amazing with a big floppy hat whilst I sip Pimms in my garden.
Patterned trousers – lightweight chinos in a bold monochromatic print are perfect for cooler summer days. These Studio 8 cropped trousers are going to be great for swanning about the botanical gardens.
Camisoles – I love a camisole and do wear them all year round but the loose fitting drape neck style is particularly great for summer. This ASOS Curve camisole will look great tucked into skirt or worn loose over shorts or chinos.
Casual shorts – I love shorts that come that bit longer and these Boden shorts come in multiple lengths up to a size 22. They also come in multiple patterns to suit your moods.
Lightweight Jumper – a mesh jumper is perfect for cooler summer evenings in the beer garden of your local haunt. This Elvi number is beautiful summery in a soft pink and come with a removal under slip making it perfect for layering.
White Jeans – I’m a huge fan of white jeans and live in my ASOS Ridley’s – this summer will be no exception and I may invest in a second pair so I don’t have to wait for the weekly white wash to wear again.
These key items will happily see me through the summer (I actually have some in my wardrobe already and some others ordered). Do you have any summer staples? I’m thinking I ought to maybe add a hat this year!
