Bikini Review – Imagine by Elomi*

Sometimes, when lounging by a pool, you just want sheer old school glamour.   I mean, I certainly appreciate all the amazingly edgy swimsuits that are oh-so-popular at the moment, and seeing CurvyWordy flaunt them to perfection on Instagram does sometimes make me consider trying a high legged slogan number – but the reality is, I’m an old school kind of girl, I’m simply NOT edgy!

I just don’t really do high fashion – instead, I’m all about the timeless elegance!  And you don’t get much more timeless elegance than a simply black two piece with a huge floppy hat!

I can really see myself on a yacht in Cannes (or Capri where you can get the most delicious ice-cream) wearing this Elomi Imagine Underwired Bikini top and matching briefs.  Pair it with a big floppy hat and a pair of tan sky-scraper heels and you’re worthy of any 5* hotel – now someone take me to one, please?

I’m wearing the 36GG and it fits like a dream.  I seem to be very consistently this size across Elomi products and find it is one of the most consistently sized brands out there.

The bra is a simple moulded plunge shape – very similar to the shape and fit of the Bijou (I review the Soiree here) which is one of my go to bras.  It has a contrast mesh panel at the bust and central gore and the pants have a matching panel mid-thigh join.

As  with the Soiree, the bikini doesn’t give great cleavage but it does give phenomenal support.  My boobs are uplifted and safely encased – I did my pogo impression which I so often use to test a bra’s support, and can safely say that there was little-to-no slippage. I’ve also worn this swimming and can say that it holds up well even when attempting tumble turns (the first time I’ve done them since my surgery last year and it didn’t always go so well)!

The briefs, in an 18, are also an excellent fit.  They do cause a slight crease between my tummy and the seam but any bigger would be distinctly baggy in the water.  Why does lycra also expand a little bit when hitting the water?

They come up nice and high, finishing an inch or two above my hip.   I like my pants high – they have more staying power when splashing about in the pool.  I just roll them down for tanning purposes when in warmer climates.

The bikini retails at £46 for the top and £32 for the bottoms so, true to Elomi form, this is not the cheapest on the market.  However, it is incredibly durable and won’t be going out of style any time soon.   I think it’s definitely worth the investment!

Also, Simply Be have it on sale here!
