`It took me longer than some to fall in love with jumpsuits, it wasn’t really until early this year that I found one to suit me. Now, I wear a jumpsuit most weeks. They’re potentially the most versatile item out there, perfect for the boardroom or the cocktail bar. With party season soon upon us, a jumpsuit really is the way to transition from day tonight when you simply don’t have the time for a full outfit change.
This Alice & You jumpsuit is a little different to the simplistic, black jumpsuit’s I’ve worn in the past. I find the 70s shape with ultra-wide leg and a plunging neckline a little refreshing in the vast array of more body contouring shapes. I’m also just a little bit in love with the colour, an aubergine tinged brown that is rich and sumptuous but still classic and understated.
I’ve dress it here for work, layering up on gold necklaces and a warming polo neck. The flat don’t quite go, I need to find a pair with a little more refinement but it is still lovely to find a jumpsuit with a little bit of length on my 5ft10 frame to not necessitate folding the trouser hem into culottes or ankle grazers.
For night, I’ve simply whipped off the polo neck and let my hair hang free. I’ve frown on a pair of mini heeled sandals and switched the heavy handbag for a clutch. Bobs your uncle, my demure jumpsuit has been transformed for the evening.
I’m wearing a size 18 in the jumpsuit and it fits me perfectly – it’s so rare for something to fit me this well but it really does. It skims my hips, cinches beautiful at the waist and sits central and square on my shoulders. The belt, which I have also worn as a scarf, allows you to pull in the waist more if you feel you need too.
I’m also really loving the little floral appliqué on the arms – this will be no surprise to those regular readers of my blog given my A/W trends post on appliqués.
The jumpsuit is priced at £45 which I feel is very reasonable. It’s made from a light weight woven fabric that means it’s something that can easily be worn through warmer months as well as through winter – I can actually see my self floating about Havana in this next year (I’m really hoping for a big sun holiday to Cuba).
Plus, if you haven’t got the message already, it’s really very versatile. I think it’s going to be my winter ballet outfit – cause it’s not Christmas without a showing of the Nutcracker.
Do you have any jumpsuits that’s you’re loving right now? And how do you style them from day to evening?
