Jumpsuits are a new obsession with me – I tried my very first one around this time last year, it was a classic black Elvi, and although it didn’t fit perfectly, I really loved it and immediately set about finding more.
Now, I was a late comer to the jumpsuit obsession – I’d watched skinnier girls flaunting them with pride but I struggled seeing how my fat body could look good in one. I think it was partially a lack of confidence in my own body – a confidence that has grown considerably over the past year as I’ve come to terms with my disability and embraced my lumps, bumps, and giggly bits for what they are, part of me!
My latest jumpsuit* is, again, from Elvi. It is a strong minimalist shape with a wide leg and cami top. There is nothing flashy or bold about it – it’s confident in it’s easy elegance and one of those pieces that is going to be great going from these foggy winter months through to spring and into summer!
I’m wearing a size 18 in this jumpsuit and the fit isn’t perfect, but this is down to my own peculiar measurements. I’m an extreme hourglass, so a lot of items are tight on my hips and big on my waist like this here jumpsuit. I probably could have sized up to a 20 to get a less figure hugging silhouette (as the style intended) but I’m a little bit of an exhibitionist with my figure!
The jumpsuit is also a little short on my 5ft10 frame – I don’t believe it is meant to be that awkward ankle grazer length. That said, I’m glad it is as it’s going to look great with sandals come summer months.
I’ve styled the jumpsuit in my usual slightly-overdone style, layering it over a high-neck lace top & pairing with staggering heels. This is how I would style it for cocktails with the girls or a slightly swankier occasions. Through the day, I’m thinking brogues & a white polo neck. The layering is needed at the moment as the jumpsuit cuts low under the arm to flash your bra and has almost completely bare back …
Through summer (and warm beach days in the Caribbean), I’ll forego the layering and flash my bikini and side boob with pride! And that really is the great thing about this jumpsuit, it’s versatile enough (and light weight) enough to be worn through all seasons!
You’re also able to adjust the steps to fasten the jumpsuit in a variety of ways at the back – I may have to have a play at that and post about it at a later date for you all!
The jumpsuit is priced at £55 which I think is perfectly reasonable for a well made & versatile piece like this. If you’re a new customer to Elvi, you can get 20% off by signing up to their newsletter.
