Have you heard about My Retro Closet yet? If not, then you’ve been leaving under a cloud! This amazing independent lingerie designer makes the cutest, flirty-ist, most playful vintage inspired lingerie that I’ve ever some across!
I actually purchased this Joan Babydoll last year but have only just gotten around to sharing it, I actually bought it, loved it, put it in the closet for a special occasion, and forgot about. I feel this is sacrilege for such a lovely piece cause really, I should never take it off!
The babydoll is made from a lightweight chiffon with satin trim and lace hems. The material hangs beautifully and an amazing swish and sway to it as you move (perhaps I’ll have to put a video on my Instagram account for you to see).
The babydoll skims my hips and bum cheeks, threatening a naughty flash of butt as I move, and sits very low on my back. You can adjust how low you want the babydoll to sit as the satin ribbon straps are tied allowing you easily adjust the coverage of the babydoll. Personally, I like my back to be bare as its one of my favourite features.
I’m wearing the signature lilac babydoll but it comes in a variety of different colours with options to mix and match the lace and satin trim.
The babydoll comes in one size and is designed to have an over-sized feel for size 8 through to 16. The great thing about this is that it also fits us plus size girls. As a size 18 I should be outside of the fit range for this beauty yet it is comfortably roomy on me and I think it would easily fit larger without losing its shape.
The only area I would be concerned about is the chest if you do have a particularly broad back but I have swimmers back and shoulders with many size 18 blazer currently feeling tight after a hellish swimathon and I still have plenty of room in this.
The Joan babydoll is priced at £50 which I think is perfectly reasonable for a hand made to order piece that is as beautiful as this. In fact, many stores would charge far in excess of this.
I would definitely say it’s money well spent and I’m debating another for photoshoots later in the year!
