It is a favourite of so many plus size bloggers. Every time a new collection comes out, we swoon on Twitter, gush all over our Instagrams, and generally get a bit squiffy with joy. And finally, one of their pieces is hanging merrily in my wardrobe.
Yes, I finally own a Manon Baptiste piece from the retail heaven that is Navabi.
I actually featured this Manon Baptiste Button detail jumpsuit* in one of my wishlists early this year. As soon as I saw it I fell in love with the nod to a nautical theme that is just a little bit vintage with the cinched waist and gold buttons. It has wide leg culottes, floaty sleeves, and a plunging v-neck.
I have heard many amazing things about the quality of the Manon Baptiste range and I am please to say that this is very much the case with this jumpsuit. It is fully lined, the stitching beautiful hidden, and made from a firm and luxurious feeling cotton. Not only this, but it the jumpsuit is structured beautifully for the curvy plus size figure. I know that we’re not supposed to care about flattering, but the series of pleats and darts in the material really do create an amazing silhouette that sucks in at the waist and skims the hips.
I’m wearing a size 18 and would say that this jumpsuit comes up a little big – I am probably going to need to get the waist taken in as it is a good inch or two too big. The shoulders and chest are also generous and the hips, where I am currently widest, fit fairly perfectly.
I know that other who have reviewed this jumpsuit (Terrible Tumbles springs to mind) have also suggested that it runs a little larger in the sizing.
I’m 5ft10 and the culottes sit just below the knee on me. I’m also very pleased to say that the jumpsuit does not ride up any delicate places when walking about (so many do on a tall girl and it is really very uncomfortable when this happens).
The fit, quality, and fine materials this jumpsuit means that it is not a bargain. It retails at £129.99 so this is, for me, an investment piece; the type of purchase that I would save for before delighting in seeing it in my wardrobe. It is stylishly classic enough to be worn year after year and, judging by the quality, you really will be able to wear this for years!
I’m really looking forward to wearing it on summer holidays to Devon next month and it may even make it to Cuba with me at the end of the year. Through winter, I’ll be throwing on a polo neck underneath to wear it in the office.
Have you tried anything from the Manon Baptiste range? They’ve just added some new stuff and it is delicious!
