I’ve been a little slow getting posts out lately – I’ve had a lot of trips which have been utterly delightful and a well needed break from the hell that is work.
When travelling, I feel relaxed, uplifted, confident and my very best self. I keep having to remind myself of that when I return home, sit behind the soulless work desk and pretend that I love working. I really don’t – I’m in a bit of rut at the moment, struggling to see where I’m going or what I’m moving towards. I know I’ll snap out of it, but until I do, these little vacations are all that are keeping me going!
Last weekend was spent in Devon, on the Southern Coast around Dartmouth area. My in-laws live down there so it is an area that I’m getting to know quite well and love exploring all the rocky coves, quaint villages, and many many seafood restaurants. I’ll write a post about those in a few weeks for anyone that wishes to visit the area themselves – it is a beautiful, relaxed, and vibrant part of the UK so I highly recommend a mini-break.
When travelling in the UK, I always over pack. You have to pack for every eventuality cause our weather is so unpredictable, especially by the coast. Thankfully, my woolies and my waterproofs weren’t need and stayed locked away in my suitcase – giving me plenty of chances to wear my two beautiful new Lovedrobe tops that are simply summer perfection.
Cold Shoulder Ruffle Blouse
The first is a chiffon, floral top with cold-shoulder and frill detail sleeves. I was actually a little unsure about this at first as I’m not a huge fan of the cold shoulder but this one seems to work really well.
The top is super lightweight and almost sheer – modest only protected by the bold floral print. It is a size 18 and quite generously size, causing a billowing feel to the top that looks great with high waisted jeans like these ASOS Curve Mom jeans.
The second of the tops is my favourite and I can see myself getting so much wear out of it. It is a bardot top with a blue/white stripe and floral embroidery. The sleeves are wide with a tie cuff detail and the top is longline, sitting low on my hip bones.
Again, I’m wearing a size 18 and it gives an oversized fit. The neckline is elastic and so fairly free sized.
I really love this blouse and the idea of pairing it with short shorts on warmer days (I’m praying we get some more of those).
One of the things I really like about both blouses is the easy-breezy oversized feel and longline – it gives both tops a versatility that means they can be worn so many different ways. Both are style tucked into my Mom jeans in these pictures but they could easily be worn loose over skinny jeans, tucked into high-waisted 50s skirts or loose over short-shorts.
As with all good summer tops, they’re easy to dress up (think skinny jeans and high heels with a bit of jewellery) or down, with trusty sneakers and ripped jeans (as above).
Now, I just need to book another holiday so wear them on the beach again!
