For me, festive lingerie is about luxurious fabrics in deep jewel tones; a celebration of the season for excess. But it still needs a purpose, a function. It needs to look and feel great whilst offering support beneath your Christmas party dress and comfort beneath your winter layers.
Now I’m a huge fan of power-lingerie. For me, looking and feeling empowered beneath your clothes is just as important as a great hair cut or manicured nails are to others. For me, dressing starts in the lingerie wardrobe. And that is never more important than during the Christmas party season; a season of endless parties, food, socialising. A season that is, at its heart, exhausting!
The Elomi Anushka ticks all the boxes for party-season lingerie. It is vibrant in its jewel-toned-teal overlaid with black lace and mesh panels. It is supportive and uplifting in its moulded balcony shape. And it is comfortable with its deep wires and side-sling fit.
The pants are high waisted and supportive, creating smooth lines beneath your slinky party dresses and the high, rounded shape the cups give to your breast tissue looks phenomenal beneath off-shoulder and rounded necklines.
The Anushka is a slightly different fit to other Elomi bra’s that I’ve tried in the past. The band is typically firm; the 36 fitting me perfectly. The cup size, however, is slightly shallow. The GG cup only just contain my breast tissue and risks a slight double boob when hormonal changes loom. If, like me, you normally find Elomi bras generous in the cup when compared to other fuller bust brands, then you may want to consider sizing up.
You can see that the slightly smaller cup size means the central gore isn’t sitting entirely flush to my skin and the bra is pulled slightly forward. It isn’t, therefore, offering optimum support and uplift.
Despite this, the support it pretty good and which means it must be pretty phenomenal when fitting perfectly. The bra just doesn’t move whilst being worn, it needs little adjustment and keeps my boobs in place all day long. I’ve already mentioned the great shape it gives my breast tissue but it is also extremely comfortable.
The bra has a high-side sling that sits beneath the underarm and helps support any misplaced bra tissues and push it back toward the cup (where it should be). The fact that the bra doesn’t move around during wear means that the back band is incredibly comfy during prolonger wear. I may go so far as to say that the bra could be worn on a long-haul flight; only the Elomi Bijou and Curvy Kate Daily Dream have won that accolade in the past.
I think this will my Christmas day lingerie; comfy enough for those long dog walks on the beach but beautiful enough for a little festive magic.
And if someone, (ahem – hubby), would like to get me the babydoll version for under the tree, well I wouldn’t be too upset!
