Babydoll’s are fun and flirtatious.
The long skirt makes them a little bit unpractical, slightly frivolous. Yet at the same times they are, usually, supportive, flattering (yes, the word I hate but so many people love) and little bit old fashioned. But old fashioned in the fun, vintage, Betty Page way.
This Dragonfly Babydoll by Curvy Kate is no different. There is something a little bit burlesque to it; the placement of the vibrant purple and pink lace laid over the sheer black mesh is a little bit reminiscent of nipple tassels. The fluorescent pink hems and peek-hole back are flirty without being overt.
Sadly, the fit of this number is not so fun. At least not on me.
The cup is a tiny bit to shallow in the 36H and it means that my boobs are tipping forward. As this is an item that will likely never leave the house, this is simply not a problem. However, if you are on the large end of a cup size the definitely consider sizing up in the cup. The back band is a perfect fit and slightly firmer than the usual Curvy Kate back bands but not so firm to warrant sizing up.
Despite the slight fit issues, I do feel the Dragonfly babydoll is definitely going to be supportive when fitting properly. The soft cup is constructed in two parts with a subtle plunge that gives great uplift and a deep cleavage. My boobs aren’t perfectly supported in this cup but that is because it is a little shallow. I’m fairly confident that a less shallow fit would allow for much greater support.
All of that said, I love this babydoll. The aesthetics of the design are completely in line with my current mood; it is sleek, simple and a little bit flirty. Who knows, maybe I’ll plan something romantic with it this Valentine’s day?
The Curvy Kate babydoll is priced at £42 and has a matching brief for £16.50.
