I have long felt extremely limited by the plus size sports and activewear. It has been functional but not stylish; plain, unadorned, bland. And then ASOS launched the ASOS 4505 range.
I didn’t hear great things about the ASOS 4505 offerings at first – and that is why I didn’t purchase anything at the time. There were complaints about the durability of the fabrics with reports of leggings losing their shape quickly and embarrassing mishaps at the gym when they sag and fall down.
However, I also know that ASOS took the complaints of their customers seriously and have since adjusted the fit and style of their Curve range. Since then, wearers of the ASOS 4505 offerings have done nothing but rave about the items. And, I admit, I’m one of them!
These ASOS 4505 Training 7/8 Legging with Breathable Mesh have been a godsend for this long, hot summer. The leggings are made from a smooth stretch fabric that has a subtle shine – perfect for disguising those sticky, sweat patches. They are high waisted with a wide, elasticated band that ensures the leggings stay put even when hanging upside down for yoga.
The mesh panels in a contrasting pink material are fantastic for ventilating your legs. They definitely keep you cool and allow a little air to circulate. The leggings themselves have a body-hugging fit but, despite appearance, they are not compression leggings and therefore don’t lift or shape. They offer mild support but definitely wouldn’t contour.
I’m wearing the size L in these which is a UK size 16 – 18. They are a great fit in the butt and thighs but a tiny bit big a the waist. This suggests they are little generous in their sizing as I’m normally a firm 18. They’re also meant to be 7/8 length but, as you can see, they are more 3/4 length on my 5ft10 frame. I don’t mind this, especially through summer. However, if I were wanting to wear these for outdoor activity in Autumn I may need to buy the ASOS tall version for that added length and coverage.
