Valentine’s Day or Galentine’s Day? Does it really matter? It’s just another excuse to buy some fantastic lingerie that makes you feel that little bit sexier, that little bit wilder, that little bit emboldened.
Now, really, I don’t need the excuse of Valentine’s Day to buy lingerie. It is my thing. It makes me happy. It makes me walk a little taller and smile a little brighter. But I do love an excuse to buy themed lingerie and Valentine’s definitely does give you a theme, one of whimsical romance descending into the passion.
I’ll be completely honest though; my Valentine’s Day celebrations have never been that passionate. I remember my very first Valentine’s with my now-Husband. I purchased new lingerie – a beautiful plummy basque with suspender attachments and a plunging neckline adorned by a small dangling golden heart. It took me forever, and contortionist skills, to close all those hook and eye closures on my own. I wore a pretty frock, curled my hair, and darned red lipstick in eager anticipation of being unwrapped later in the evening. We went to a not-so-swish Chinese (we were students and poor and he REALLY likes Chinese food). Most of the evening was spent watching him eat – he can eat A LOT of Chinese food. He gorged so much that he had to undo his belt on the way home. He was too full to unwrap me. This is the story of our relationship.
Anyway, back to my fantasies of Valentine’s Day. This year I’m feeling playful. I’m lusting after vibrant red and pinks with sheer panels, lace appliqué and harness details.
