Kilo Brava: affordable, ethical, luxury lingerie

It’s not very often that the words affordable, ethical, and luxury appear side by side. But that is what Kilo Brava attempts to do. And even better, they’ve teamed up with lingerie favourite, Playful Promises, to make sure UK lingeristas have access too.

Champagne tastes with a Lambrusco budget. That about sums me up. I adore luxury. Silks and fine lace excites me in a way that poly-blend satins never will. Or, at least, so I thought. I dream of the day that I can justify indulging in my tastes. But, with a house renovation underway and a baby that needs expensive childcare, I can safely say that my tastes will not be fully satisfied for some time.

And then came Kilo Brava. A brand promising attainable luxury. Blending the opulence of intimate apparel with the off-the-peg market.

Okay, they’re not going to give me silk. The very fact that they are an attainable brand means that polyester satin makes up the majority of their pieces. However, they do offer a quality of design that blends well with a price point that won’t break the bank – at least, for me.

The Kilo Brava collections are small, carefully curated ranges meant to mix and match for ultimate versatility and wear. The designers carefully pick their materials, from hand-rendered lace artisans to factories known for their quality output. They are also aiming to be as inclusive as possible. In the US, their range runs to a US 24 (around 22 for us UK-based folk). Their inclusivity of size, mixed with the exclusivity of design does mean that their ranges are limited. Therefore, they sell out quickly.

Exclusive prints at Playful Promises

Luckily for those based in the UK, Kilo Brava have released exclusive prints with one of our favourite lingerie retailers, Playful Promises.

For spring 2021, PP are selling the signature Kilo Brava satin slip dresses and playsuits in bold zebra and snake prints in vibrant mustard and mint colours. Their cowl necks, spaghetti straps, and plunging backs merge 1930’s glamour with the racy appeal of modern loungewear. They are so beautiful, that it would be a shame to wear them just indoors. I know I couldn’t.

And if you’re after bralettes and tap pants, then you’re covered there too. Inspired by vintage silhouettes the Wild Rose and Lipstick ranges combine sheer embroidery, mesh and sequin embellishment. Generously sized bralettes include hook-and-eye enclosures, satin bands, and boned side support for added shape.

And the US ranges? Well, I might be risking customs charges very soon, as the offerings are too good not to.
